1-25-22 republican lawmaker from campbellsport under fire

Assembly Republicans are pushing back against a conservative state lawmaker from Campbellsport for lying about fellow GOP lawmakers and using taxpayer dollars to put out political screeds.  WisPolitics.com editor J.R. Ross says in addition to vocally advocating election conspiracy theories the last straw for Assembly speaker Robin Vos was learning that Ramthun was telling outright lies about other Republicans.  “Vos cited an example to me of, he says Ramthum accused him and former senate majority leader Scott Fitzgerald, now congressman, of signing a deal with Hilary Clinton’s lawyer to okay drop boxes in Wisconsin.  Vos says that’s a bald-faced lie.”   Ross says Ramthun has also called for primary challengers for Republican lawmakers who don’t agree with his election views.  “He (Ramthun) is actually going into other member’s districts and saying this is what I’ve found if you’re Republican lawmaker doesn’t support what I’m saying you should look at a primary (election) for that person.”  Ross says as the speaker tries to reign in the lawmaker, the question is how will it impact him (Vos) and the caucus.   On Friday news surfaced of another Republican lawmaker, state representative Elijah Behnke, supporting debunked election conspiracy theories  saying on a video that Republicans need to “Cheat like the Democrats” to win upcoming elections,  calling speaker Vos a “swamp creature, and said he’d like to punch governor Tony Evers  over pandemic restrictions.
