Work to widen Highway 23 east of Fond du lac continues and is still slated for completion in a little more than a year. Fond du Lac County Highway commissioner Tom Janke says two of the three legs of a 19 mile stretch from Plymouth to Fond du Lac is expected to open to four lane traffic this month. Janke says the overall project is slated for completion in November of next year. The total project cost has ballooned from $96 million in 2005 to $173 million today after it was delayed by lawsuits and environmental impact studies. Janke says while that’s frustrating, he’s also not surprised at that number.
