University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt announced that UWO students have reached a 70% COVID-19 vaccination rate. In addition to the health and safety benefits of reaching this vaccination milestone, qualifying UWO students are now eligible for several $7,000 scholarships awarded by UW System through its 70 for 70 campaign. UWO also will award 10 $1,000 scholarships this fall to qualifying vaccinated students. “We have come a long way in a few short weeks,” Leavitt said. “I am not surprised. This is just one more example of the caring, compassionate community that is UWO.” The faculty and staff vaccination rate stands at 77%. Vaccination rates for both groups have been climbing since classes began and UWO officials say they expect it to continue to increase through the fall.
