Dear Fond du Lac School District Families,
There are several important updates we want to share with you following last night’s Board of Education meeting and workshop.
In-Person Platform Students: Move to Traditional Modified Model (Five Days of In-Person Learning) on February 15, 2021

The Board gave the District guidance to move to the Traditional Modified model for all students enrolled in the In-Person Platform on February 15, 2021. Traditional Modified means that all students enrolled in the In-Person Platform (both cohorts) will attend school in-person full-days following the school calendar. The current school year calendar can be found here: https://www.fonddulac.k12.wi.us/Calendar.aspx (Please note: Families with elementary, 4K and Early Childhood students – please review the calendar for the week of February 15th as there are day(s) off related to your parent teacher conferences.)

Schools will continue to implement safety mitigation efforts, such as requiring masks and increased hand hygiene. Maintaining a social distance of at least six feet is less possible with all students attending school in-person, but we will do the best that we can. However, this can result in more close contact COVID-19 quarantines, therefore, families are encouraged to prepare ahead for how they will handle quarantining.

We are asking that you complete a daily at-home COVID-19 Health Self-Screener for all members of your family. Keep your child home if they are not feeling well, and contact your health care provider or the public health department regarding COVID-19 test options as soon as possible if any symptoms occur.

When you are selecting the In-Person Platform, please understand that students can be in school in a Traditional Modified (full-day in-person), Blended (Cohort) or Required Remote models. Movement between models is fluid and based on the status of COVID-19 in our schools and community.

Remote Learning Platform

The District will continue to offer the Remote Learning Platform as a choice for families. Please note that for students in the Remote Learning Platform, due to scheduling with our staff, learning may be synchronous (real-time) or asynchronous (pre-recorded) lessons with daily attendance expectations. Your teacher(s) will share expectations for their class.

Weekly meal packs will continue to be available to all remote learners, in addition to local children not enrolled in our schools. Families can pick up these meals Mondays from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Administration Center (72 W. 9th Street, Fond du Lac). Opportunity to Switch Learning Platform (In-Person or Remote)

If you want your child to stay in their current Learning Platform – no action is needed on your part.

Given the change to full-day in-person instruction, the District and Board wanted families to have an opportunity to request a switch of their child’s learning platform between either In-Person or Remote. If you feel that your child would learn best in a different platform than the one they are currently enrolled in, please complete the “Request to Switch Learning Platform Form” by January 31, 2021. (Please submit a copy of this Form for each child that you want to request this change for.) This will allow us time to evaluate the requests and plan student and staff schedules. If you have any questions or trouble completing the form, please contact your child’s school.

Please carefully consider your family’s situation as this is your final chance to request a switch to your child’s Learning Platform before the end of the school year.
