5-23-20 fdl thelma sadoff center for the arts reopening in phases

Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts in Fond du Lac  is taking a phased approach to reopening during the pandemic and will reopen Tuesday, May 26 with two new art exhibitions.   “It’s important to us that our guests are comfortable and of course, the art is celebrated  so we are taking all necessary precautions and ensuring that THELMA staff are trained on the new procedures and the building is sanitized,” said Jacqui Corsi, THELMA Executive Director.   The first phase opens with new exhibitions by Thiensville artist and former Fond du
Lac resident, Amy Jarvis, and New York artist, Joan Lobis Brown. THELMA will require a maximum of 10 people per floor in the two-level Susan O. Ahern  Contemporary Wing. Social distancing and the wearing of face masks are encouraged,  and sign-in in the lobby is required. THELMA staff will wear face masks and hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building. Paint palettes on the floor will show
six-foot distance and 20 seconds of song lyrics will adorn every restroom mirror to encourage proper hand washing.
New, is the extension of hours on Thursdays. THELMA’s galleries will be open until  7 pm, along with the Great Hall Bar. Guests, a maximum of 10 people per space, may
enjoy a glass or wine or a cocktail while viewing the art between 5 and 7 p.m.   In addition to the extended hours on Thursdays, THELMA will be open Monday through
Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.    “We have wanted to extend our hours one evening a week to give people another opportunity to view the art and this is a perfect time to do that,” Corsi said.
A reception and artists talks may come at the end of the exhibitions. As part of first phase of re-opening, THELMA will offer classes. Please check thelmaarts.org and
THELMA’s social media for updates.
The second phase to reopen would include hosting concerts. A final decision on when phase two would begin will be announced at a later date, Corsi said.  THELMA is located at 51 Sheboygan St., in the heart of Downtown Fond du Lac’s Arts  and Entertainment District.
