4-6-20 fdl county district attorney charges two fdl residents with violating governor’s safer at home order

The Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against two Fond du Lac residents for violating the governor’s Safer at Home order.  The owner of Sunset on the Water restaurant, Maria Katris, and Brad Lenz, who runs an Airbnb on Overland Trail are charged with misdemeanors of violating  Governor Tony Evers’ Safer at Home Order.  According to a criminal complaint  a sheriff’s deputy observed people inside the restaurant who said they were eating and socializing with friends.   On March 30, an anonymous caller reported at least six renters from Illinois using the swimming pool at the Overland Trail residence.  Lentz denied he ever told the renters they could use the pool, according to the complaint.   Fond  du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says he just wants to make sure that people are following the law.    Toney says his office and the Sheriff’s Office has made it clear from the start that the order would be enforced.   “It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if they are violating this order and law enforcement couldn’t get some voluntary compliance that there might be some criminal charges filed,”  Toney told WFDL news.  Toney says most businesses in Fond du Lac County are abiding by the governor’s order.
