3-2-20 senate majority leader says republicans have no plans to compromise over tax cut

The state senate majority leader says Republicans have no plans to compromise on an income tax cut plan vetoed last week by Democratic governor Tony Evers.   In vetoeing the bill Evers indicated his open to considering an income tax cut or an additional state debt payment, if the plan invests in schools and provides broad property tax relief.  “I don’t look at it as a compromise because it’s a huge investment the legislature makes every other year.  We had a hard time rounding up the votes for the increases we put in this last state budget,”  Senate Republican leader Scott Fitzgerald told WFDL news.  “To come back and say we need another $250 million or some other figure just is not going to fly.”
