12-13-19 slow leaf collection in fdl

Fond du Lac Public Works crews are in the final days of leaf collection, picking up a few remaining large leaf piles on terraces.   Public Works director Jordan Skiff says the unusually early snow and colder than normal temperatures this fall has significantly slowed leaf collection.  Skiff says one crew is still picking up larger piles that are on the terrace.  “This is several weeks longer than we usually collect,”  Skiff told WFDL news.   “Many of the leaf piles were covered with snow much of the time, they were frozen more heavily than is typical in a Fall and all of that really slowed down our ability to collect leaves.”
