The Waupun Common Council has approved a 2020 budget. Economic Development director Kathy Schlieve says the $7.15 million budget includes a 3.25 percent increase in the tax levy. Schlieve says the city’s debt strategy changed last year to meet several challenges including roads and infrastructure. Schlieve says spending was down in all but two areas, pool maintenance and the Fire Department. Schlieve says there are some increased costs to maintain the pool, and to bring in a contracted service for testing of fire hoses to ensure the department is meeting standards.
