10-14-19 state assembly recognizes first responders of the year

The state Assembly took time out of a busy schedule last week to honor law enforcement and first responders across the state.  Republican state representative Mark Born honored Bob Belling from the town of Lomira as First Responder of the Year in the 39th Assembly District.  Belling has been a volunteer firefighter with the Knowles Fire Department for more than 40 years, serving 26 years as Fire Chief.  State representative Jeremy Thiefeldt recognized Fond du Lac police detective Camille Vandermolen with the 52nd Assembly District Hero Award.   Thiesfeldt says Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney and Police Chief William Lamb both nominated Detective Vandermolen because of her great role in spearheading an extensive investigation that ultimately led to a child predator being permanently removed from the streets.  The perpetrator has since been convicted of sexually assaulting multiple children and distributing drugs to children.

“Today is a special day in Wisconsin as we show appreciation to the men and women who risk their lives every day to protect us and the communities they serve,” said Rep. Thiesfeldt.  “Wisconsin has outstanding first responders, and today is an important time to recognize and offer respect to each and every one of them, especially our nominee, Detective Camille Vandermolen.”
