8-19-19 drive sober or get pulled over campaign starts this weekend

Beginning this weekend through Labor Day, law enforcement agencies throughout the state are participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says last year in Wisconsin alcohol related crashes resulted in 159 deaths and nearly 3,000 injuries.  “We just want to remind people we are out there and watching,”  Waldschmidt told WFDL news.  Waldschmidt says there are several ways citizens can help.  Never allow someone to get behind the wheel impaired and report impaired drivers to  police by calling 911.  You can download a free Dive Sober mobile app from the WisDOT website.  Some taverns and restaurants have programs to provide patrons a safe ride home.
