The Fond du Lac County District Attorney says a legislative proposal to add prosecutors and boost pay for prosecutors and public defenders is a mixed bag. The Joint Finance Committee approved adding 26.5 positions in district attorney offices across the state, which would result in an additional assistant DA in Fond du Lac County. DA Eric Toney says he doesn’t believe the package goes far enough when it comes to salaries for prosecutors. “We were certainly happy to see the additional positions approved,” Toney told WFDL news. “Although it did include a two percent pay increase it was far lower than the pay progession standards that were set in statute but haven’t been funded. So that was a major disappointment.”
