Hartford Fireworks in Jeopardy, Chamber Asking for Donations and Sponsors

The Hartford area Chamber of Commerce says it doesn’t have enough money to put on a fireworks show this Fourth of July, and is asking for donations from area businesses and citizens.

Executive Director Scott Henke says in a video posted to the chamber’s Facebook page that the fireworks have only been canceled twice in the city’s history.

“Once because of weather, the other because of funds,” Henke said.

“I don;’t want it to happen again this year. We’re about $3,500 short and we really need about $7,000 to make it a great show.”

Donations are needed by the end of the week, and can be made directly to the Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce.
