Saputo Cheese in Fond du Lac is closing next spring in an effort to improve efficiency. The Montreal based company says its cheese manufacturing facility on East Scott Street in Fond du Lac will close next May leaving 126 people out of work. The company says employees will receive severance and some will be offered a chance to work at other Saputo facilities. The company says it will save more than $5.5 million a year by moving the operations to a newly-built blue cheese factory in Almena in western Wisconsin.
