Vossekuil Reaches Agreement with City of Mayville to Become Next Chief of Police

The City of Mayville has reached an agreement to hire a new Chief of Police.

Interim Chief Ryan Vossekuil reached an agreement with the City Council at Monday night’s special meeting.

Vossekuil will not be signing a contract, which he says puts him right on par with nearly every other Chief in the state.

His salary will be set at just under $74,000, and he will not be forced to enter into a probationary period, which was a stipulation that led to him rejecting the original offer from the city at the end of August.

After the meeting, Vossekuil released a written statement, which reads:

“I have accepted the City of Mayville’s offer to serve as the next Chief of Police. It is a great honor and a privilege to lead this department. This has been a long and challenging process for all, and I’m excited to move forward. The staff of the Mayville Police Department are dedicated professionals, and we’ll keep our focus on working cooperatively with our citizens to ensure that Mayville continues to be a great place to live.

Thank yo to the Mayor, City Council, Police and Fire Commission, and the community members who have placed their trust in me.”
