10-23-17 government center staffed security checkpoint

The Fond du Lac County Board chairman says supporters of a staffed security checkpoint at the government center have discussed the possibility of taking the issue to referendum.    The recommendation comes from the county’s circuit judges.  But county board chairman Marty Farrell says the county can’t afford the estimated $250,000 annual cost.   Farrell says one way to get around the property tax freeze is to go to referendum.   But Farrell says he questions if its worth spending the money for a potential incident that would probably never happen.  “I would like to point out that we’ve already spent over $1 million on physical security in the city-county government center,”  Farrell told WFDL news.
