The co-owner of the historic downtown Fond du Lac Retlaw Hotel says construction is expected to begin shortly after Labor Day on a multi million dollar remodeling project. Dennis Doucette says work will start on a new Main Street entrance to the hotel. Doucette says so far there haven’t been any unexpected surprises in a building that’s been sitting vacant for more than a year. Remodeling work was delayed as the developers waited to get word on Historic Preservation tax credits. But Doucette says he’s confident construction can be completed so the hotel can re-open at the beginning of June.
