8-22-17 confirmed human case of west nile virus in fdl county

The first human cases of West Nile virus for 2017 have been reported in Wisconsin.    The cases were reported in Fond du Lac and Oconto counties.  Fond du Lac County Public Health officer Kim Mueller says the state is not releasing any specific information about the  infected person or where that person lives.  Mueller says the chances of a person contracting West Nile virus are very low and most people infected will not have any symptoms.   The majority of West Nile virus human cases in the state occur during August and September.   Mueller says the confirmed case shows that its important for people to be vigilant in protecting themselves against mosquito bites.
