8-1-17 teen dating violence bill

State lawmakers have introduced a bipartisan bill addressing teen dating violence.  Republican state representatives Joel Kleefisch and John Spiros and Democrat, Melissa Sargent are circulating the bill that would create teen dating curriculum in schools across the state.  Sargent says the measure would also require training for school employees.  Sargent says teen dating violence is a pervasive problem. Sargent says kids don’t know enough about relationships yet to know what they’re experiencing isn’t healthy or right.  According to the Center for Disease Control, one in five female students and one in ten male students experience physical and or sexual dating violence, not including emotional abuse, threatening or harassment.
