4-4-17 local races-spring election

Voters are going to the polls Tuesday to decide several local races, a handful of referendums and a statewide school superintendent race.  In addition to several town and village board races, there is a contested race for Fond du Lac School Board.   Incumbent Mark Strand is running for re-election along with challengers Greg Freiherr.  Dan Sitter, and Monica Walk.   For Fond du Lac city council incumbents, Greg Giles,  Brian Kolstad, Catherine Block and challengers Bill Turner and Thornton Albertz, are running for three seats.   Waupun mayor Julie Nickel is running unopposed for election.  She was appointed to the post earlier this year.  Her replacement on the council, Jason Westphal is running unopposed for the District 1 seat.  Ryan Mielke is running for re-election in District 3.  Newcomer Bobbi Vossekuil is running for the District 5 seat.  Incumbent Mike Johnson has filed a declaration of non-candidacy.  Jennie Patrykus and Dylan Weber are up for re-election to the Waupun School Board.  Challenger Stephen Chene (Sha-nay) is also running.   In the village of North Fond du lac,   incumbents Mike Will and Mike Streeter are running unopposed for re-election.  Vickie Goldapske is the only incumbent up for re-election to the North Fond du lac School board.  There is also a nearly $30 million North Fond du Lac School District building referendum.
