The author of a bill that would eliminate daylight saving time says she would like to see a regional approach to the issue. State representative Samantha Kerkman says similar bills are being considered in a number of midwest states including Minnesota, Iowa and Michigan. Kerkman says the change would let people get an extra hour of sleep. “Its a variety of different states, its Republican and Democrat. Minnesota its a Democrat lead sponsor, Michigan its a Republican,” Kerkman told WFDL news. Kerkman says daylight saving time has not accomplished its intended purpose, which was to save electricity costs.
